The village sits a mile and a half from our base in Biggleswade, so we can be with you in minutes — which makes everything from regular lunchtime walks to short-notice pop-ins genuinely easy to arrange. Smiley Pets has been caring for pets in this corner of Bedfordshire since 2010, and the quiet lanes around All Saints church are some of the most familiar ground on our rounds.

Our dog walks are strictly solo: we collect your dog from your home, walk locally and bring them back — never in a vehicle, and never mixed with dogs from other households (though up to three dogs from the same household are welcome together). For cats and small animals, we visit once or twice a day while you're away: feeding, fresh water, litter trays and cages, medication if needed, and a bit of play and fuss. The village itself walks beautifully. Quiet lanes and pavements loop around All Saints church — the Victorian landmark at the heart of Upper Caldecote — with grass verges and good sniffing spots along the way, and the streets around the village playing fields off Harvey Close make a gentle short circuit that suits puppies and older dogs.
For field walks, a public footpath leaves Biggleswade Road by the thatched cottage and heads out across flat, open farmland towards Beeston — easy underfoot and just right for a steady, sniffy hour. From Hitchin Road, a bridleway links towards Ickwell, a lovely option when a longer outing is on the cards.
And with Biggleswade right next door, the flat riverside paths across Biggleswade Common are part of our regular patch too — though we always keep dogs on leads around the cattle that graze there.
