Our dog walks in Sandy work the way careful owners want them to: we arrive at your home, clip on the lead and head straight out from your own front door, returning your dog home settled at the end. There's no van and no pack of unfamiliar dogs — walks are strictly solo, for your dog or up to three dogs from the same household, and the only time a dog travels in a vehicle with us is a genuine emergency.
Because every walk starts at your door, the exercise is genuinely local. Nervous rescues can stay on quiet streets they know; fit, busy dogs can head for the river or the wooded hills on the edge of town. Cat sitting and home visits in Sandy
Cats famously hate leaving home, so we don't ask yours to. Our cat sitting visits bring the care to them: drop-ins once or twice a day while you're away, covering food and fresh water, litter trays, any medication, and as much play or quiet company as your cat is in the mood for. After each visit you'll receive a WhatsApp update with photos — the next best thing to being there yourself.
The same visits suit Sandy's smaller residents too: rabbits, guinea pigs and birds, with hutches and cages kept clean and everyone fed, watered and checked over. A 20-minute drop-in is £10.50.
An empty house needs looking after as much as the pets do, so we keep yours looking lived-in while you're gone — lights switched, curtains opened and closed, bins put out and brought back in, post and parcels taken inside. We don't offer boarding, daycare or overnight stays; in our experience pets are happiest, and homes most secure, with calm daily visits to their own territory.
Favourite walks around Sandy
Sandy is the RSPB's home town, and it shows: few towns this size have so much green space within reach of the front door, from sandy heath to riverside meadow. These are some of our favourite local routes.
The Pinnacle, off Sand Lane, offers more than twelve acres of heath and woodland on the Sandhills east of town, crossed by the Greensand Ridge Walk, with panoramic views back over Sandy from the top — a proper leg-stretch for energetic dogs.
The Riddy, the town's own local nature reserve off Mill Lane, is a gentle riverside flood meadow beside the River Ivel, rich in wildflowers and birdsong and home to water voles. Flat and peaceful, it suits steadier dogs, and we always give the wildlife that makes it special a respectful distance.
The Kingfisher Way follows the River Ivel through town, with riverside paths heading towards Blunham in one direction and Biggleswade in the other — easy, sniff-rich walking. Closer to home, Sunderland Road recreation ground has wide-open grass for a quick burn-off.
As for RSPB The Lodge itself: dogs aren't permitted on the reserve trails, but they are welcome on a lead along the public bridleway that runs through the Lodge's woodland and on towards Biggleswade Common — a lovely shaded on-lead route for calm walkers.

Sandy pet care questions
All of them. We cover the whole town, including Girtford and Beeston, and Sandy sits comfortably inside our usual working area of roughly ten miles around Biggleswade. We also visit nearby villages such as Northill and Upper Caldecote — if you're somewhere more rural in between, just get in touch and ask.
From your own front door — we never transport dogs by vehicle, so every walk uses the routes around your home. Depending on your dog's age, fitness and temperament, that might mean quiet streets, the riverside paths along the Ivel, the recreation ground or the heath up at the Pinnacle. Because walks are solo, the route is always chosen to suit your dog, never a group.
On a lead, and only partly. The RSPB welcomes dogs on the public bridleway that passes through the reserve, but not on the reserve trails themselves, so it works best as a calm on-lead woodland route.
